Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Taverna Discord bot and the tavernadm.com website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Scalar Studio ("we", "us", "our").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by Discord in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Description of Service

Taverna is an AI-powered tabletop RPG experience delivered through Discord. The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate game content including narratives, characters, items, and combat encounters. AI-generated content may be unpredictable and is provided for entertainment purposes.

3. Beta Program

The Service is currently in beta. This means:

• Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
• Game data (characters, worlds, progress) may be reset or lost during the beta period.
• The Service may experience downtime or interruptions.
• We may limit or revoke beta access at our discretion.

By participating in the beta, you acknowledge and accept these conditions.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to exploit, manipulate, or abuse the AI systems (e.g., prompt injection, jailbreaking) to generate harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content.
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm other users.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the Service (beyond the intended Discord bot interface).
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or AI prompts of the Service.
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its outputs without our written permission.
• Violate Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines while using Taverna.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create through the Service (character names, backstories, in-game actions). However, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, and process this content as necessary to operate and improve the Service.

AI-generated content (narratives, NPC dialogue, item descriptions, etc.) is provided as part of the Service. You may use AI-generated content from your own game sessions for personal, non-commercial purposes.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, AI systems, and branding, is owned by Scalar Studio. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the Service.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
• AI-generated content will be accurate, appropriate, or consistent.
• Game data will be preserved indefinitely.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scalar Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of enjoyment, or interruption of service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by removing the bot from your server or leaving the beta Discord server.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the beta Discord server or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
